How to edit or delete time and leave entries in the desktop app

In this article we want to show you how you can edit or delete your time/leave entries.

Time entries

You can easily edit or delete your time entries with a few clicks or key presses:

  1. Go to the Calendar and click on the time entry you want to edit.

  2. Now you can either delete (CTRL + DEL on Windows or CMD + Backspace on Mac) or edit all the properties of this entry (see video below). You can navigate forward through the inputs using the TAB key and backward using SHIFT + TAB

  3. If you haven’t tried notes, #tags or @mentions yet, now would be a good time to give them a try! Read here for more information on that.

Please note: There are the following limitations when editing a time entry:

  • The start time must be before the end time (I know, that seems obvious but trust us on this one 👍🏼).

  • If your time entries overlap you will either have to overwrite an existing entry (or a portion of it) or edit the entry so it doesn't overlap with any other time entries.

  • An entry’s activity can only be changed to an activity of the same integration. (eg: you cannot select a Toggl-activity and reassign it to a JIRA-activity).

  4. When you are finished editing hit the “save” button or use CTRL + S on Windows or CMD + S on a Mac.

Here's a short video showing you how it works:

Leave entries

To edit or delete your leave entries:

  1. Go to the Calendar and click on the leave entry you want to edit.

  2. Now you can either delete (CTRL + DEL on Windows or CMD + Backspace on Mac) or edit all the properties of this entry. You can navigate forward through the inputs using the TAB key and backward using SHIFT + TAB

  3. You can enter a note in the leave entry to provide more context

Please note: There are the following limitations when editing a leave entry:

  • The start time must be before the end time (I know, that seems obvious but trust us on this one 👍🏼).

  • You cannot create overlapping leave entries.

  • An approved leave that is in the past cannot be deleted
