How to update the maker kit firmware with an iOS device

Get the latest firmware and bootloader

  1. Download the latest firmware from here.

  2. Download the latest bootloader from here.

Download and install the Nordic nRF connect app 

  1. Open your iTunes AppStore and Search for "nRF Connect"

  2. Install the app on your device

Download and install the LightBlue Explorer

  1. Open your iTunes AppStore and Search for "LightBlue Explorer"

  2. Install the app on your device

Copy the necessary files to your iOS device.

  1. Connect your iOS device to your PC or Mac and open iTunes.

  2. Select your iOS device in iTunes and then select "File Sharing".

  3. Select the "nRF Connect" App and add the two files you've downloaded beforehand to the "Documents" section.

  4. Click "Sync" and then "Done"

Set the Tracker in DFU mode

  1. Turn on Bluetooth on your device

  2. Open the LightBlue app

  3. Turn on your Tracker

  4. Klick on Timeular Tracker to connect with your Tracker

  5. Wait until the list is loaded

  6. Scroll down to Service "UUIDC7E70000-..." and tap on it in the white area

  7. Klick on Listen for notifications

  8. Klick on Write new value

  9. Write the value "01" and press Done

  10. Now you see am massage Disconnected Alert

  11. Klick on the Write new value

  12. Go to the Dismiss

  13. Close the app

  14. Now your Tracker is in DFU mode

Upload the firmware

  1. Set your Tracker in DFU Mode (see the instructions above)

  2. Open the nRF Connect App

  3. Connect to your Tracker in DFU Mode

  4. Wait until the list is loaded

  5. Klick on the DFU Button in the lower right corner

  6. Select file type "Distribution packet (ZIP) " and hit OK

  7. Choose the ZIP Package "ZEI_320-801b_s130_app_dfu_package_v113.zip"  from your device.

  8. Hit the "Play" Button to start the update 

  9. Wait until the upload is completed

  10. Klick on Close in the upper right corner

  11. Close the nRF Connect App

  12. Now the Firmware was updated on your Tracker

  13. Update the Bootloader on your Tracker (this is important!)

Update the Bootloader 

  1. Set your Tracker in DFU Mode (see the instructions above)

  2. Open the nRF Connect App

  3. Connect to your Tracker in DFU Mode

  4. Wait until the list is loaded

  5. Klick on the DFU Button in the lower right corner

  6. Choose the ZIP Package "ZEI_320-801b_s130_bl_dfu_package_v113.zip"  from your device

  7. Hit the "Play" button to start the update 

  8. Wait until the upload is completed

  9. Click on Close in the upper right corner

  10. Close the nRF Connect App

  11. Now the Bootloader was updated on your Tracker
